Very few family lawyers can boast the financial pedigree that Yitong brings to her clients. With a background in accounting and finance prior to studying and practising law, Yitong is adept at helping clients navigate separations with complex financial arrangements.
She prides herself on being able to advise clients who have ownership in private businesses, investment properties, complex trust arrangements and investment portfolios.
Prior to practising exclusively in family law, Yitong worked in a variety of areas of laws including advising in migration law, criminal law including obtaining intervention orders against abusive spouses and property conveyancing including transferring properties between spouses, partners and family members.
These are all experiences that now help her clients get well-rounded advice when going through a relationship breakdown.
Cross-border Litigation and Overseas Property Division
Yitong is experienced in managing cross-border litigations, coordination with overseas solicitors and making application to injunctive relief relating to overseas proceedings.
Yitong moved to Melbourne in 2010 and attended the University of Melbourne for her studies in Law, Accounting and Finance. Prior to her tertiary education, she spent some years in Singapore and was originally from China. Her personal experience provided her a good understanding of different cultures and legal practices overseas. This has now turns into her ability to manage cross-border claims and advise on overseas asset divisions.
Yitong is also a NAATI accredited translator and interpreter. As a translator, she has exposure to a wide range of government certifications, financial documents and court judgments. She is familiar with Chinese legal processes, business operations and government policies. Her experience as an interpreter makes her a skilled communicator and a quick reader. Her clients often found themselves saved significant amount of time and money as a result of her skills.
